Everything is at stake – not just for Iran
The US deeply involved in planning the Israeli attack
by René Zittlau*
(27 June 2025) (CH-S) In a crystal-clear overarching view, analyst René Zittlau shows the geopolitical consequences and connections linked to Israel’s attack on Iran. It becomes evident that the US administration is much more deeply involved in the preparation of the attack than it appeared.
The multiple violations of international law will not invalidate international law itself, but the development of a peaceful global community will be set back considerably.

The world is racing towards an abyss. Under Trump, the US seems even less able to get its own problems under control than it did under Biden. Peaceful coexistence with others seems to be becoming a distant dream.
If humanity survives the crisis that has begun with the attack by Israel and the US on Iran and which threatens to influence events far beyond Iran and Israel, historians and teachers will one day explain to their students that on Friday, 13 June 2025, the international post-war order created after the Second World War – the much-cited so-called international law – finally ceased to exist.
This order, established by the Charter of the United Nations and subsequently defined in writing by a myriad of international treaties, is based on a hard-won minimum level of trust between states. It has been repeatedly put to the test by breaches of law and wars.
But probably never since 1945 has the world been lied to so demonstratively, arrogantly and deliberately as it was by Israel, in the person of its Prime Minister Netanyahu, and the USA, in the person of its President Trump, on 13 June 2025. As “statesmen”, they declared in all seriousness to the world public that they had to launch a pre-emptive strike against Iran to protect Israel. Iran, a country that has not attacked another country in ages and is not at all geared towards offensive warfare.
Outside the G7 and the dependent states in its sphere of influence, the US has gambled away all its political credit with this move, above all with Iran, China and Russia, but also with Pakistan and large parts of Africa, for example. It is impossible to predict how massive the political upheavals around the world will be because of this live, real-time unmasking of the hegemonic interests of the US and its vassals.
Israel’s war against Iran could last a long time. It will divide the world in ways we cannot even imagine today.
The White House is politically naked
For years, the world public has been accustomed to Israel’s deliberate distortion of facts. However, the blatant lies of the American president in connection with the war against Iran initiated by Israel are of a quality never seen before. His mockery of the deliberate murders of Iranian scientists and politicians will change the political coexistence of nations. His narcissistic personality simply would not allow the US president to stand aside when the Israeli prime minister announced his supposed victory on 13 June 2025. He simply could not help telling the world: Yes, but it would not have been possible without us.

Without the USA, Israel is completely unable to ‘see’ Iran. (Picture ma)
The West against Iran
This revealed what all attentive observers had known for a long time: the genie was out of the bottle – the US was directly involved in the planning and execution of the Israeli attack on Iran.
Days before the attack, they supplied the Hellfire missiles used to execute the Iranian scientists.
They provided intelligence information. They refuelled Israeli bombers over Syria, which in itself constitutes a massive violation of international law. According to reports, the German war spirit has now also been awakened, with the German government also sending its aircraft.
The US was and is also significantly involved in detecting and identifying the missiles and drones fired by Iran in response to Israel.
But the US involvement does not end there. US fighter jets are actively involved in combating Iranian drones and missiles. This is not taking place in Israeli airspace, but in the skies over Iraq, Syria and Jordan. They are being assisted in this endeavour by their NATO colleagues from Great Britain and France.
Off the coast of Israel, this task is being carried out by the US destroyer USS Thomas Hudner, which was ordered there at short notice from the western Mediterranean for this purpose.
The West’s open support for Israel’s war against Iran thus goes far beyond what is “usual” in Ukraine.
On the diplomatic front, too, it is striking that the NATO states are acting in concert. France, the UK and Germany issued virtually identical condemnations – not of Israel’s attack on Iran, but of Iran’s defence against the attack.
The West is also helping Israel in other ways. In anticipation of fierce Iranian reactions, Israel moved its civilian aircraft to Cyprus and its military aircraft to a British air base in Cyprus.
However, close observation of the details of the support for Israel also reveals facts that are significant for the Ukraine conflict.
The withdrawal of US Patriot air defence systems from Ukraine to Israel, which was made public in recent days, proves in its own way that Ukraine is only a means to an end for the US in its undeclared war against Russia.
It also shows that Ukraine clearly has no sovereignty over the weapons supplied to it by the West. Only those who are in control, who hold the strings in their hands, can withdraw at will weapons systems relevant to the war.
The IAEA – a sub-branch of NATO, the CIA and MI-6
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is a specialised agency of the UN. According to its statutes, it promotes the peaceful and safe use of nuclear energy and has established internationally recognised standards for this purpose. Unfortunately, like virtually all UN sub-organisations and international sports organisations – such as the IOC and FIFA – as well as organisations such as the OSCE, it also has another, darker side. All these organisations have been infiltrated by the West and have become pawns in its insatiable quest for unipolar world domination.
The IAEA’s actions about Iran are more reminiscent of the Mafia than of a once reputable international organisation. Iran has once again paid dearly for its openness towards the IAEA and its inspectors.
Considering recent events, the IAEA’s resolution on Iran of 12 June 2025 appears to be a document commissioned by NATO and Israel. It accuses Iran of deliberately violating agreements with the IAEA. In practical terms, Iran did not even have time to respond to the allegations within a reasonable period. In addition, Iran had hoped for a decisive breakthrough on the nuclear issue in the negotiations with the US scheduled for 15 June 2025 in Oman. It had publicly declared in advance its willingness to agree to virtually all the demands made of it.
However, the US used these planned negotiations as a cover for its aggression against Iran, which it launched with Israel on 12 June 2025.
And there is another frightening detail: a few days before the attack, the Iranian secret service publicly announced that it had captured explosive documents on the Israeli nuclear programme. In the documents, the Iranians found the personal data of Iranian nuclear scientists who were murdered by Israel on 12 June 2025 with Hellfire missiles, among other things, and who were supposed to be members of the Iranian delegation in Oman on 15 June 2025.
The captured documents state that Israel had obtained this information from the IAEA – information that led to the immediate death of the scientists.1

Why are Israel and the US escalating the situation right now?
The preparations for the attack on Iran were long-term, as Israeli officials readily admitted. The date of the attack was therefore not chosen at random.
In view of the planned nuclear negotiations between the US and Iran in Oman, the Iranians were apparently convinced of the Americans’ good will. They did expect a possible Israeli military attack, but “after” the negotiations. And above all, they did not expect an attack from within their own country.
One of Israel’s main goals was and is to drag the US into a war with Iran. Without the US, Israel is not able to defeat Iran by conventional means.
The following facts make it clear that the US must have been deeply involved in planning the attack. To “hold Iran accountable” for its nuclear research, a conflict had to be provoked before October 2025.
This is because the agreement between the IAEA and Iran expires in October 2025. Once it expires, Iran is free to do whatever it sees fit.
Another important factor in the timing of the war is the fact that, according to an agreement with the Iraqi government, the US will lose control of Iraqi airspace in September 2025. Without this control, Israel would have had to plan completely differently.
But these are tactical considerations in the face of the greater strategic goal.
Iran is a key BRICS country. And BRICS itself poses a huge economic, social and political challenge to the entire West. This group of countries is superior to the West in virtually all key parameters. Added to this is the close interconnection between BRICS and OPEC, as well as African and Asian countries.
In recent months, there have been repeated attempts by the West to woo or put pressure on one or another BRICS member. The recent conflict between Pakistan and India also has aspects of this.
Israel and the US want to kill two birds with one stone. A regime change would restore the desired Western order in the Middle East, including long-cherished access to Iran’s natural resources. At the same time, it would be a serious blow to the BRICS group.
A lesson for Russia
Russia will have followed the US’s betrayal of Iran very closely. This move will have opened the eyes of even the last doubters in Russian politics about Donald Trump and the nature of American overtures towards Russia.
Iran’s breakaway from BRICS would pose considerable problems for Russia. The planned north-south transport corridor from northern Russia via Azerbaijan and Iran to India is not feasible without Iran.
Without Iran, China would lose its largest natural gas supplier. It is probably no coincidence that Israel set fire to the world’s largest gas field in Iran.
Without Iran, BRICS would lose its internal stability.
The real target of the attack is therefore not Iran, but BRICS. This will also lead to corresponding considerations and decisions in Moscow and Beijing.
It will be a clash of giants – the West against BRICS, including the global South. The economic indicators favour BRICS, which could well prompt a wounded West to resort to the ultimate weapon – the atomic bomb.
How will Iran react?
Iran’s history of relations with the West is long and painful. On more than one occasion, Britain and the US have violently changed or attempted to change the course of history in this resource-rich country. The Western coup against the democratically elected government of Mossadegh in 1953 continues to have repercussions to this day.
Iran therefore has good reason to distrust the West’s offers, especially since it must choose between the devil and the deep blue sea: surrender with regime change or economic subjugation. The latter option implies regime change.
The events of the last few hours and days may motivate Iran to build a nuclear bomb after all.
This is not a confirmation of the West’s policy, but a painful lesson. For if Iran had a nuclear bomb, Israel and the US would not have dared to attack Iran.
Professor Marandi of Tehran University refers to Iranian history in an interview.2 Iran has not been dependent on single individuals during difficult periods of its history. There have been repeated attacks from outside on leading politicians and military commanders with the aim of changing the country’s development. In the Iraq war, the president was killed, then the prime minister and many military commanders, without the goals associated with the murders being achieved.
In his view, despite all the problems, Iranians clearly support their country’s leadership. “The country is united in a way I have never seen before.”
He therefore concludes: “We must ensure that this was a mistake and that something like this never happens again. Iran’s relations with the West will change fundamentally.”
Outlook
The destruction of the international order and international law is in full swing. When there is no longer any trust, when treaties, law and order no longer apply, it is tantamount to a return to the law of the jungle. A return to the power of the strongest.
When Europe finally overcame this principle of might is right, it was 1648. After 30 years of war, people finally came to their senses.
The West, which developed out of the Europe of the Peace of Westphalia, finds itself in a phase of political and cultural degeneration, i.e. decline, regression and degeneration, in view of the realities of 2025.
If the law of the jungle, the rule of force, seems to be becoming the determining political agenda again, then we are back to the level of the late Middle Ages. What to expect next?
